The need categories named “Belonging” and “Esteem” by Maslow are sometimes renamed as “Social” and “Intellectual”. The “intellectual” category includes aspects that make life more effective, economical and practical. The “social” category is concerned with interaction with different communities such as friends, family, relatives, the workplace, alumni etc.
By offering a range of location accuracies the Mobile Arts MLC solution meets the needs of different Location Based Services, from simple services requiring basic accuracy to advanced services, such as real-time driver navigation, requiring high accuracy.
Potential consumer fear of using Location Based Services is removed with MLC functions that allow the consumer to control who is allowed to know his/her location.

Location Based Services such as Friend Finder, Geo-tagging or Games meet social needs, provide fun interaction with friends and gives the ability to extend your social network. Examples include:
- Geo-tagging: The ability to “blog” geographically and leave location dependant information in Cyberspace.
- Exercise logs: Track your exercise routes and share them with your community. There are communities that will share decorative patterns they have biked!
- Friend Finder: See the location of all your Facebook friends on a map and interact.
Esteem and Intellectual services
A Location Based Service that is used for Esteem / Intellectual is the Search, information & navigation service.
- Local weather, traffic, public transport, event, yellow & white page information etc.
- Assistance in finding and effectively reaching a destination through any means of transportation.
Self-Actualization services
A Location Based Service that is used for Self-Actualization is the Goal Finder service.
Aiding a person in their efforts towards reaching their potential by alerting them of opportunities in line with their quest available in their geographic surroundings
