Serving Mobile Location Centre (SMLC)

The Mobile Arts Serving Mobile Location Centre (SMLC) interfaces the GSM Radio Network (BSS), UMTS Radio Network (UTRAN) and the LTE Evolved Packet Radio Network (W-CDMA, TD-SCMA and TDD), and provides integrated support for:

  • SMLC component of 3GPP LCS Enhanced CGI Location for GSM
  • SMLC component of 3GPP LCS Assisted GPS Location for GSM
  • SAS component of 3GPP LCS Enhanced CGI Location for UMTS
  • SAS component of 3GPP LCS Assisted GPS Location for UMTS
  • eSMLC component of 3GPP LCS Uplink Enhanced CID Location for LTE
  • eSMLC component of 3GPP LCS Downlink Enhanced CID Location for LTE
  • eSMLC component of 3GPP LCS Downlink OTDOA Location for LTE

Other functions performed by the SMLC include:

  • Location method selection and re-selection based on received quality of service parameters received from the MLC Client (via the XMLC/GMLC and the mobile network)
  • Retrieval of GPS Reference Data from external GPS Reference Data Server or Receiver (for 3GPP LCS A-GPS Location for GSM and UMTS)
  • Import of radio network data
